NEPA Documents

The utilities are currently going through an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) process. The National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) governs the EIS process and ensures that proposed actions involving federal funding adequately evaluate all reasonable alternatives for meeting a project’s needs. This process also requires that the utilities identify the impacts their project will cause and (when necessary) recommend ways to mitigate the impacts.

While this is a long and highly complex process, it does describe specific points in the process when the utilities must consider public input. We encourage you to visit the Environmental Review section of the utilities’ project website to view the information they are providing in relation to their EIS process.
